The process of designing a space depends on a clear understanding of the requirements that the client has and what the constraints may be that will limit the formation of the plan- constraints include such items as budget, structural limitations, etc.

Project- Retired couple desires an improved master bedroom suite.

Requirements- Separate shower and seat, soaking tub, water closet room, single sink, more closet and storage.

Constraints- Second floor above meant routing plumbing vents would be a challenge.

Solution (to left) -

increase bedroom wall length, allowing bed to fit on this wall
re-configure hallway to bedroom
take hall bath tub space for master bath
provide wider opening to toilet room with tall linen storage
open glass shower with bench
double hanging closet system in old ironing room
route tub and shower vents through existing toilet wet wall
